About The Rabbanit
Rabbanit Devorah Halevy, wife of Rabbi Yonatan Halevy, is the Co-Spiritual Leader of Kehillat Shaar HaShamayim.
Brief Biographical Sketch
Hailing from Brooklyn, New York, Rabbanit Devorah was raised in the illustrious Karlin-Stolin Chassidic community, where her father, Rabbi Meir Goldberger, was the principal of the community's Yeshiva.
Studying in her youth at the community's Bais Brocho girls' school. She continued on to her advanced studies at the Bais Yaakov Teacher's Seminary, where she studied towards teacher certification. Rabbanit Devorah graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor's in Behavorial Science from Mercy College, and most recently, with a Masters of Social Work from the Wurzweiler School of Social Work at Yeshiva University.
After living for fours years in Jerusalem, Rabbanit Devorah married Rabbi Yonatan and moved to San Diego to join him in his work and proudly stands alongside at the helm of our community.
Rabbanit Devorah is currently a PhD student at Wurzweiler School of Social Work at Yeshiva University. She also a teacher of Judaic studies at the Torah High School of San Diego for girls.
Our Rabbanit is most famously known for her expertise in Tanach brilliant stories of Tzaddikim, and the writings of the Kabbalistic-Chassidic dynasties, especially that of the Slonimer Rebbe in his magnum opus Netivot Shalom. She is always available for the needs of every member of our community and specifically for the needs of the ladies' in our close and broader San Diego Jewish community.
