High holidays this year will present us with unprecedented logistical challenges, but the reward of finally being able to be together will make all of it worthwhile.

If you 1) have ample free time and 2) are physically able to lift chairs/books/tables and wish to volunteer for the Rabbi's logistical team, please email rabbi@shiviti.org.

By registering you agree to the following rules and guidelines. Rule and guidelines are subject to change and will be updated regularly.
Please read in entirety before registering.

  • Members and regulars only. Due to COVID-19 limitations, High Holiday Tefillot are open to Kehillah members and regulars only (exceptions may be requested via email for immediate family on case-by-case basis, space-permitting).
All outsiders, even if they are guests of our members, will not be allowed entry.
We hope for a day where we can reinstate our famous Kehillat Shaar HaShamayim hospitality, and this is a necessary first step to reaching that goal.
  • No-shows and cancellations. We understand that schedules change, especially in these unusual times. Nonetheless, as space is severely limited, we ask that you understand that your reservation directly impacts the number of other individuals who can or cannot attend High Holiday Tefillot.
As such, if your party does not show at all throughout one of the holidays reserved, all future reservations will be canceled and your chairs given to others who need the space.
For example, if you RSVP for Holiday A, and either 1) you do not show up at all over the entire holiday, or 2) less than the number of people you registered showed up at one given time - then all future reservations will be canceled.
To avoid reaching uncomfortable situations, we ask that you 1) register only for the holidays and amount of people you are certain will attend, and 2) notify us within 7 days before a holiday if you will be unable to attend.
To clarify, partial attendance is acceptable and welcome - meaning, you do not need to attend ALL the Tefillot on a given holiday if registering for it. The above "no-show" rule only applies if a reservation is completely a "no-show" throughout the entire holiday.
  • Children and high risk individuals. In this initial phase, we cannot provide special accommodations to any children under the age of Bar/Bat Mitzvah.
Parents who wish to bring children over the age of 3, are responsible to ensure that they 1) wear masks, 2) sit near them or go outside with them, 3) do not mingle with other children. There is no need to RSVP separately for children, as they will be with you at all times.
Those over the age of 65 or in a high-risk group should consult with their trusted medical professional before attending.
  • Registration. All who wish to attend any of the High Holiday meetings, must register in advance via our online form. Those who do not register will be unable to attend meetings upon arrival. Registration deadline is 9/6 at 1:00pm.
  • Conditions and guidelines. The conditions and guidelines for attendance of these meetings is 1) washing/sanitizing hands before arrival, 2) maintenance of 6 feet social distancing between people, 3) wearing face masks, 4) avoiding entry into the home or contact with any shared surfaces.
  • Symptoms. Anyone with any of the following symptoms may not attend in-person meetings at this time: cough; shortness of breath or difficulty breathing; fever; chills; muscle pain; sore throat; new loss of taste or smell.
  • Illness. Anyone who does not feel well even without experiencing these specific symptoms - may not attend in-person meetings.
  • Exposure. If one has been infected with COVID-19 or has self-quarantined because of exposure to an individual infected or suspected to have been infected with COVID-19, must be symptom-free for at least 14 days before attending in-person meetings.
  • Chairs provided. Each registered member will be assigned their own chair which will be placed on their designated spot. This chair will be exclusive to them and remain there until the end of the holidays.
  • Tables. Depending on the number of reservations, there may be space for members to bring their own tables. More details will be provided once registration closes.
  • Shared items. To avoid sharing items, all registered members will be provided with the appropriate Siddur/Machzor/Chumash for the holiday. These will be placed in a label box on each chair, and must be returned to the box after each Tefillah.
We will be unable to provide Tallitot this year, and each registered member is encouraged to bring their own.
  • Restrooms. There will bathroom access at our High Holiday location. Bathrooms are shared with the entire building and we take no responsibility for their sanitation aside from their regular cleaning schedule.
  • Water bottles. We are working on securing water bottles to be distributed among Tefillah participants. If you would like to purchase and deliver a few cases of water bottles, please respond to this email to let us know.
  • Please do your part! Unlike other communities, no individual will be tasked with policing these guidelines. By registering to attend, you agree to adhere to all the rules mentioned above without exception. I will not hesitate to shut down these meetings if we are unable to act responsibly and adhere to these guidelines. We must each do our part, so that we can continue expanding our re-opening plan.

By registering for this event, you agree that Shiviti/Kehillat Shaar HaShamayim/Rabbi Yonatan and Rabbanit Devorah Halevy (“Shiviti”) cannot be held liable for any exposure to the Coronavirus (COVID-19).
