Community Update Regarding COVID-19
Dearest Members of Kehillat Shaar HaShamayim,
I'm sure many of you are concerned about the coronavirus disease outbreak. Rabbanit Devorah and I share your concern and are closely monitoring the situation, remaining attentive to guidelines promulgated by the CDC, State and local authorities regarding best practices.
We have also been extremely impressed at the calm and level-headed attitude that has been displayed by our members and are commited to responsibly fostering such an enivornment at Kehillat Shaar HaShamayim.
Based on the most current recommendations as of this writing, and taking the particular characteristics of our small community into account:
Tefillah will take place as usual this Shabbat, and all of our Shiviti classes will remain in session this coming week.
Anyone experiencing any symptoms, or who was exposed to someone who is likely to have contracted the virus, is asked to stay home.
Individuals most at risk should consider staying home.
Soap and water are readily available in the restroom adjacent to the Bet Knesset entrance; we request that all members entering the Bet Knesset wash their handsprior to doing so.
We request that everyone respect each others health choices and practices during this time such as, but not limited to: choosing to eliminate physical contact with one another, such as shaking hands, hugging etc., as well as decisions to stay home.
As stressed many times before, unlike others, we refrain from giving out advice in areas that we are not qualified to advise on. We urge individuals experiencing any symptoms, or individuals most at risk, to reach out to their personal, trusted medical professionals for advice on this matter.
We will send updates as called for, and you can count on further communication in the event of any changes.
Rabbanit Devorah and I wish you and yours only well, and pray that HaKadosh Baruch Hu send peace and healing to the world.
With love and many blessings, Rabbi Yonatan Y. Halevy Spiritual Leader Shiviti – Kehillat Shaar HaShamayim
