3/16/2020 - Community Update Regarding COVID-19
Dearest Members of Kehillat Shaar HaShamayim,
As I shared in my last email, Rabbanit Devorah and I share your concern and are closely monitoring the coronavirus disease outbreak, remaining attentive to guidelines promulgated by the CDC, State and local authorities regarding best practices.
As stated last week, we have also been extremely impressed at the calm and level-headed attitude that has been displayed by our members and are commited to responsibly fostering such an enivornment at Kehillat Shaar HaShamayim.
Based on the most current recommendations as of this writing, and taking the particular characteristics of our small community into account:
Classes. We are temporarily suspending our in-person classes at the Bet Knesset.
Shabbat. We will be in touch closer to Shabbat regarding Tefillot. For now, this email only addresses our weekday Shiurim.
Weekday Tefillah. We do not have weekday Minyanim at Kehillat Shaar HaShamayim, but encourage you to reach out to your personal, trusted medical professionals for advice on this matter when considering praying elsewhere.
Online Platform. I am currently working with our dedicated audio/video team (who are going above and beyond their already tremendous commitment to the Shiviti Bet Midrash) to provide LIVE broadcasts of our Shiurim so that you may safely join us from wherever you are. I will be in touch with details as soon as we have all the hardware and software ready for this undertaking. Please click hereif you wish to donate towards this undertaking - please write "Shiviti" in the notes field so we can allocate appropriately.
What can you do until then? In order to use YouTube LIVE from any platform, we need about a hundred more "subscribers" to our official Shiviti channel. Please take a moment and subscribe by following this link and clicking "subscribe" !
We will send updates as called for, and you can count on further communication in the event of any changes.
Rabbanit Devorah and I will continue to monitor San Diego's health situation on a daily basis. We pray that we will soon be able to return to our usual routine and ask that HaKadosh Baruch Hu send peace and healing to the world.
Wishing you and yours only well, Rabbi Yonatan Y. Halevy Spiritual Leader Shiviti – Kehillat Shaar HaShamayim
