NEW MASK GUIDELINES - PLEASE READ IN FULL
Based on recent developements from the CDC regarding COVID, the State of California and the City of San Diego have revised their guidelines:
Masks are not required for fully vaccinated individuals, except in certain settings where masks are required for everyone, regardless of vaccination status.
Masks are required for unvaccinated individuals in indoor public settings and businesses.
Additionally, in settings where masks are required only for unvaccinated individuals, the State of California and the City of San Diego have instructed us that we may choose to:
Provide information to all patrons, guests and attendees regarding vaccination requirements and allow vaccinated individuals to self-attest that they are in compliance prior to entry.
Implement vaccine verification to determine whether individuals are required to wear a mask.
Require all patrons to wear masks.
We have chosen to utilize the first option, provided that we are able to maintain a safe distance during Tefillah and events.
This is an honor system, and we trust that each and every Kehillah member will do their utmost to keep each other safe. I ask you for your full cooperation to avoid being forced to implement the third option and return to mask wearing for all to avoid issues of liability and non-compliance with the State and City directives.
AN IMPORTANT NOTE
There will be friends and family of ours who may continue to wear masks. For example: some Kehillah members or people close to them may have a condition or are taking medications that weaken their immune system, and therefore may NOT be fully protected even if they are fully vaccinated, and as such may need to continue taking all precautions. Please understand that not everyone wishes to disclose their personal medical history with you, and I ask that you respect those around you who wish to continue being cautious.
IN CONCLUSION
Since the beginning of this pandemic, I have done everything in my power to keep our Kehillah together as the cohesive unit we all love and work so hard to maintain. You are the reason we have been successful! You have continously treated each other with dignity and respect - despite often steep differences regarding the challenges of this last year. I ask that we place those values as our primary objective going forward. Thank you for giving me the merit of being the rabbi of such an amazing community!
Wishing you and yours a Shabbat Shalom, Rabbi Yonatan Halevy
