Shalom!
We will continue meeting in our temporary Bet Knesset location for Shabbat. Though we will not be having a Kiddush Lunch this week, we will still have Seudah Shelishit with a Q&A Shiur, b'ezrat Hashem.
A number of our regulars have reported testing positive for COVID this week.
If one has been infected with COVID-19 or has self-quarantined because of exposure to an individual infected or suspected to have been infected with COVID-19, we ask that you keep others in the Kehillah safe by being symptom-free and quarantining the correct amount of time before attending in-person meetings. We wish all our Kehillah members and their loved ones a Refuah Shelemah!
All members and regulars are invited to attend.
NEW MASK GUIDELINES
On 12/15, the California Department of Public Health updated the face covering guidance for places of worship. We appreciate your grace as we navigate these changes, and we will continue to keep you all up-to-date with the latest information. We recieved the following communication for Kehillat Shaar HaShamayim directly from the county:
Per the CDPH Face Coverings Guidance, starting on December 15, Californians must wear a mask in all indoor public settings, regardless of their vaccination status. The indoor face covering mandate will last at least through January 15, 2022 and will be reevaluated.
Does the new requirement apply to attendees at religious worship services at places of worship?
No, but vaccinated attendees at religious worship services held indoors at places of worship are strongly recommended to wear masks in such settings. This does not change the requirement that has been in effect since June 15, 2021 that unvaccinated individuals must wear masks in indoor public places.
What about singing? Are people required to wear masks when singing indoors in a place of worship?
No, the guidance above also applies to singing. Vaccinated attendees are strongly recommended to wear masks when singing indoors, and unvaccinated individuals must wear a mask indoors, whether they are singing or not.

In addition to our regular classes, I invite you to join me at The Habura, where I will be teaching an 8-part series on the laws of Kashrut, continuin this Monday.
As part of our effort to rejuvenate the environment we have spent years creating in the Bet Midrash, all classes have returned to in-person learning as they were before COVID. Your assistance is kindly requested in order to revive the unique, in-person learning experience which we have all grown to know. Thank you for your full cooperation!
Wishing you and yours a Shabbat Shalom,
